Reaching your goals shouldn’t result in being disappointed or questioning what you worked towards. Aligning to your values and vision for your life mean you can reach your goals with satisfaction. This can look different for you depending on your situation. Your goals can be different than other people’s, even if your are striving for a related goal.

The Olympics are a great example of this. Athletes from all over the world come to compete against the best in the world. For some, qualifying and making the trip to the Olympics is the ultimate goal. Others may be disappointed if they don’t win a medal. Either way, these are the best of the best.

The story of Dana Vollmer is inspiring to me tonight. She turned her focus to her family after 3 gold medals in London in 2012. Just 17 months ago she gave birth to her son. Tonight she won the bronze medal in the 100m butterfly becoming only the second American woman to medal after giving birth. You have to know what is important and be committed to doing the best possible in whatever you are doing. Dana committed and knew what she wanted to accomplish. Her face and attitude after the 100m butterfly showed she reached something that gave her satisfaction. She didn’t need a gold medal to be proud of what she did. Read more about her story here.

No one else can tell you what success and satisfaction looks like for you. Define your success and be confident with your destination.
